"Teaching for creativity aims to cultivate students’ creative thinking or behaviors, critical thinking capacities, and innovative problem-solving skills. Innovative curriculum or innovative project in nursing education can promote students’ creative literacy, innovation abilities, and self-confidence. However, the nursing students encountered difficulties in creative thinking and innovative process in terms of motivations and interest, self-confidence, and creative thinking and problem-solving skills, while their teachers encountered the same challenges in term of instructional model, strategies, and skills. Therefore, this teaching project conducted the ATDE model, and integrated asking, thinking, doing, and evaluation in the implementation of teaching process. Also, creative problem solving, creative thinking techniques, scenario-based design, and innovation and evaluation indicators were used to design the teaching schedule, to inspire students to creative thinking and innovation, to understand user reality perceptions, and to self-evaluate and revise during innovation process. Finally, both quantitative and qualitative methods were used to evaluate the students' learning effects and reflections, respectively. The results showed effects of teaching strategies and teaching goal with mean scores of 4.6 and 4.65 respectively. In addition, the students indicated that ATDE model had the benefits of inspiring them in creative thinking, encouraging them to try innovation, evaluating user needs and product availability, and producing innovative products on schedule. This teaching experience provides references for nursing educators in the design of similar courses." |
