With the number of double-income families increasing, the after-school care for physically and mentally challenged students becomes more important. Therefore, Kaohsiung City Government held after-school class physically and mentally challenged students of elementary schools in school year 2004, and continued the class in 2005. This paper analyzes the establishment process of after-school care policy for physically and mentally challenged students of elementary schools in Kaohsiung City, discusses the achievement after two years of implementation, and proposes suggestions, in hope to improve the quality and comprehensiveness of after-school care class and stable care to needed students. |
