"Is artificial consciousness possible? What kind of biological or non-biological systems can be conscious? Studies of artificial consciousness based on research into human consciousness, cognitive systems, and neural processing, involve comparisons between human and non-hu-man systems. However, a well-developed conceptual framework is re-quired for such a comparison. This paper focuses on the underlying conceptual issues in the comparative psychology of artificial and animal consciousness. The unidimensional concept of levels of consciousness and multidimensional revision are examined, and a conceptual frame-work for artificial and animal consciousness is proposed." |
