Since the Lee Myung-bak administration, South Korea has found it onerous to handle challenges from North Korean provocation, Sino-U.S. competition, and the deterioration of the ROK-Japan relationship. Therefore, in Park Geun-hye's ''hedging'' strategy, she attempted to offset risks from the region by engaging with North Korea, intensifying the relationship with the U.S. and China, and promoting regional integration. This paper will discuss the implementation of Park's ''hedging'' strategy and the implications to South Korea.
