According to the building performance-based design framework in FEMA P58, there are three seismic performance levels for building structures: repairable, not collapsed but irreparable, and collapsed. Only when the building structure is classified as repairable would the repaired time, costs, and functionality of non-structural components in the building be considered in the building performance. On the other hand, the response of the structure of the building under different earthquake intensities represents the seismic demand of non-structural components. In order to decrease the uncertainty of the performance evaluation for nonstructural components, this study adopted a stick model for a mid-rise building structure to discuss the structural response according to nonlinear and linear analyses. The simulation parameters for the numerical model are discussed to determine better seismic demands for nonstructural components to aid in future building performance designs. |
