This study used quantitative research to take 126 students from National Taiwan Sport University as the research subjects of a high challenge course. The scales of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Learning Effectiveness of Challenge Rope Course and Fear of Height Self-assessment, were provided to the participants one week before the rope course and after the whole event. Descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test and regression analysis methods were applied to understand the relationship between psychological emotional changes and learning effectiveness of domestic college students while they participated in a high challenge course. The results of the study showed that when college students participated in the high challenge course: 1. The State-Trait anxiety increased; 2. The degree of fear of height decreased; 3. The learning effectiveness improved; 4. The higher the State-Trait anxiety was, the higher the learning effectiveness would be; 5. The lower the degree of fear of height was, the higher the learning effectiveness would be. 6. The State-Trait anxiety and the degree of fear of height increase the impact on learning effectiveness. This study suggested that participants of the high challenge course could increase the cohesion and cooperation between partners by paying more attention to the description of the activity content, operation mode, safety actions, and the input of interacting with the team when using plane games and low-elements to build an ideal readiness. Those who were afraid of heights could perform motion simulation on the ground to slow down the unknown feeling, and to reduce negative associations by being more familiar with the equipment and ensuring movement. |
