Since December 2019, the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has affected globally for more than 1 year which involved more than 200 million patients. A surge of COVID-19 emerged in northern Taiwan since mid-May 2021. In response to increasing patient numbers and rapid accumulated critically ill patients, emergent response of critical care service is indicated. Far Eastern Memorial Hospital has transformed medical ICU and neuro-ICU to a 58-bed COVID-ICU to care 11% of critically ill COVID-19 patients in Taiwan. The aim of this report to describe how to transform the ICUs and built up a healthcare team to fight against COVID-19 pandemics. |
