The treatment of cervical cancer during pregnancy mirrors that outside of pregnancy, with a balance between maternal versus fetal health. Cervical cancer is the most common gynecological cancer encountered in pregnancy. There are no standardized procedures concerning the treatment of cervical cancer in pregnancy. Therefore, in consultation with the patient and a multidisciplinary team, an adequate individualized treatment plan should be determined. Analysis of prognosis of cervical cancer during pregnancy shows no negative impact of pregnancy on the outcome of patients; therefore, pregnancy-preserving management should be considered initially. Delayed treatment can be offered for stage Ib1 cervical cancer. Neoadjuvant with platinum or taxanes chemotherapy can be given for advanced cervical cancer during the second and third trimester, in which could be a good disease-free survival without significant adverse neonatal outcomes. |
