"國立中央大學研製的小型電離層探測儀（compact ionospheric probe, CIP）是福爾摩沙衛星五號先進電離層探測儀（advanced ionospheric probe, AIP）的微型版，主要為搭載於立方衛星而設計，是全世界最輕巧可實地探測電離層電漿的科學酬載。質量約433公克、體積0.7U、消耗功率3.48W，可量測電離層離子特性，偵測造成太空通訊與導航失效的電漿密度不規則體，監控全球通訊品質與導航安全。"

Compact ionospheric probe (CIP) is an all-in-one plasma sensor developed by National Central University and is capable of measuring ion concentration, velocity, and temperature like advanced ionospheric probe (AIP) onboard FORMOSAT-5 satellite. However, CIP has a smaller dimension (0.7 U), mass (433 g), and power consumption (3.48 W) than AIP and can be installed on CubeSat to monitor space communication and navigation outages caused by ionospheric plasma density irregularities.
