In recent years, the low-temperature atmospheric-pressure plasma (LTAPP) is applied to medical applications. It has several advantages including reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, gaseous, low side effect, portable, and cost-effective, so it is very suitable for the dental or dermatology therapy. This article introduced three LTAPP medical applications. First is for tooth bleaching, the bleaching efficacy of LTAPP is better than H2O2 jet and the harm to enamel is less. Second is aerosol-assisted atmospheric-pressure plasma deposition. It takes about 5 mins and needs no chemicals to trap protein on the substrate for biosensor fabrication. Third is applying LTAPP for management of malignant pleural effusion. The result showed that, after plasma treatment, the CL1-5 cancer cell is inhibited, while the benign cells were not significantly harmed. |
