In traditional medicine applications, the active ingredients in medicinal food plants have always been one of the important sources for providing traditional clinical treatments. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of Indian Phyllanthus emblica L. on the alleviation or elimination of inflammation in organisms and summarized the safety data of Phyllanthus emblica L. in the application of traditional medicine. We analyzed three factors related to the inflammatory response in cultured animal cell lines using the water extract of Indian Phyllanthus emblica L. as research material to see if it had inhibitory effects. These three factors we analyzed included nitric oxide (NO), interleukin 6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). At the same time, the cytotoxicity analysis of microculture tetrazolium assay (MTT assay) was also performed. The results show that the extract of Phyllanthus emblica L., for macrophage cell strains activated by bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS), has a significant anti-inflammatory response. It inhibited the production of NO and IL-6 induced by LPS. The inhibitory rates of NO and IL-6 were 36.0% and 31.4% respectively, but there was no significant effect on the production of TNF-α. Besides, no cytotoxicitywas detected at the above test concentrations. Based on the above description, the results of both traditional experience and cellular studies show positive effects. Even so, for the overall clinical treatment effect of Phyllanthus emblica L., it still needs more high-quality related research to support the application of health management. |
