Community mental health services exist for years in Taiwan. This study aimed to survey adults’ help-seeking attitude, desire of utilizing community mental health services, and their understanding of mental health professionals and community mental agencies in Taiwan, ROC. A total of 687 adults were recruited with convenient sampling. The Questionnaire of Community Mental Health Services Help-Seeking Attitude and Utilization Desire was used through the web-based survey method to collect data. The results indicated that adults tended to hold positive help-seeking attitudes and strong desire to utilize community mental health services. Participants with lower education levels as well as those working in military, governmental, educational, and research organizations reported signiflcant higher levels of help-seeking attitudes, while female and people with higher education level demonstrated signiflcantly stronger desire of utilizing community mental health services. The findings suggested significantly positive correlations among various dimensions of help-seeking attitude and utilization desire. Implications of the results and suggestions based on the flndings are discussed. |
