The present study aims to build a QR code-based off-line prescription and pharmacy bag operation system for outpatient and inpatient departments, capable of scheduling and backing up medication information to maintain a complete and up-to-date inventory. In the event of an information system failure (also known as system crash), physicians can take prescriptions through a stand-alone software that does not require a network connection and send printed QR code prescriptions to each unit of pharmacy. Upon receiving QR code prescriptions, pharmacists may use a QR code scanner to read prescription and medication information and print out pharmacy bags with accurate and complete information for prescription review and medication dispensing. A literature search has revealed no previous work on such practice, which suggests that the present study is innovative and unique. |
