Objectives: ''San Huang Powder'' is frequently used for the treatment of burn wounds in traditional Chinese medicine. It was prepared from the following three yellow-colored herbs: Rhubarb, Phellodendron bark, and Coptidis rhizome in this study. Methods: Because the pig's size and skin composition are the closest to the human body, the pig was employed as the experimental animal. Western medicine, Siliverzine cream, was used as the control. Histopathological evaluation, including MT staining, H&E staining, and IHC staining, of dermal tissue healing, was carried out to compare the efficacy of ''San Huang Powder'' and the control after surgery on day 7, 14, and 21. Results: In the histopathological evaluation of the wound healing process, San Huang Powder is better than Siliverzine cream in terms of fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis and angiogenesis in the subcutaneous tissue. The results of animal experiments showed that no wound infection was observed in all experimental animals. Conclusions: The results of this study show the efficacy of ''San Huang Powder'' on superficial second-degree scalds and provide the basis to improve the preparation of this traditional medicine. |
