Green care is an emerging social care model that combines natural experience and health care. This research adopted a multiple-case study to examine the challenges and strategies for welfare institutions managing green care farms in Taiwan. In-depth interviews were conducted with seven welfare institutions for the disabled, which were selected according to an exploratory study of news content analysis. The results showed that there are six major themes of challenges for operating green care farms, which comprise the constraints of land acquisition, the limitations of legislations and policies, the shortage of finance and funds, the lack of human resources, the difficulty of leading activities, and the uncertainty of external risks. The strategies responding to these challenges were also developed. The findings of this research could provide other organizations with insight from the experiences of operating green care farms and serve as the baseline for future studies. |
