Increasing traffic demand and land use intensity makes the trafficproblem on local street getting worse. In order to improve the trafficengineering design on local street, it is necessary to investigate the the mixedtraffic flow characteristics, especially in Taiwan. This paper aims to compareand analyze the car and motorcycle traffic flow characteristics on local street.The analysis focuses on the speed and fundamental diagram in street section andthe gap acceptance of car and motorcycle at intersection. The average speed ofmotorcycle is higher than the car. Gap acceptance of motorcycle is significantlylower than that of car. The results show that there is significant difference oftraffic pattern on local street between car and motorcycle. |
