This paper presents a train movement simulator and its application toanalyzing the practical minimum headway for Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (KMRT)orange line. First, the paper shows how the characteristics of a rail line, themotion capabilities of a motor vehicle, and the control functions of a railwaysignal system can be integrated in a simulation model. Hence, the model is ableto inivestigate the effects of any change in these factors on railwayoperations. After that, some results of an empirical study for KMRT orange lineare presented to show the practical relationship between minimum headway andtrain delay. |
