Living in an increasingly complex world of information creation and technologies changes, we need creative new strategies for resources description that can integrate our traditional materials with both digital surrogates and born-digital materials in ways that meet users' access needs and collectors' management tasks. During the past years, the archives community have developed and implemented the standards of archival description, in order to manage the diversity of resources, such as ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), EAD, DACS, etc. DACS is the new content standard of archival description which is replaced APPM in 2004 (second edition released in 2013). first of all, this article introduces the respective evolutions of the archival description standards currently. Secondly, the author involved the comparison with these archival description standards, such as DACS, ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF) and EAD. Moreover, the study focuses on the differentiation associated with the function and operation of the standards Using the demonstration of mapping the transferability about archival description, that will provide a framework to establish the practical application about the content standards of archival description in Taiwan. finally, the findings suggest that the latest development in the standards will facilitate the archival management, as well as enhance the users' search and access. |
