This thesis aims to explore security governance models and their policy implication applied to Taiwan Strait region by using analytical eclecticism. First, it introduces the theoretical basis of analytical eclecticism and how it valuable to security governance studies. Second, it discusses security problems and governance models following dimensions of power, institution, and idea, and infers nine models including hegemony stability, balance of threat, balance of power, collective security, confidence building measures, regional integration, democratic peace, security community and emancipation community. Finally, it compares all security governance models' prosperities, potential risks, and future challenges as applying to constructing Taiwan Strait security order. To conclude, different research approaches, as analysis tools, provide different observing results which could improve scope and depth of IR studies and make them approximate to real world. So that, this thesis can not only deliberate upon what to do with Taiwan Strait security governance for government officials, but also understand the advantages and problems of security governance. |
