Nowadays, the U.S. design of strategy in East Asia is mainly prescribed a limit to its global primacy idea. On the one hand, Eastern Asia countries organize the regional cooperation and activities to counter terrorism, that affected by U.S. anti-terrorism strategy; on the other hand, given the complicated strategic situation, U.S. have to project strategic deployment based on the regional specialties for the future development of East Asia security. Thus, U.S. adopts a multi-dimensional strategic implement in East Asia: primacy strategy for countering global terrorism and rogue states; containment and selective engagement for dealing with emerging regional hegemony or competitor; regional alliance and cooperative security strategies for treating other Eastern Asia countries. In short, the U.S. strategic goal in East Asia is to accomplish its global interests, strive for regional leadership, and attempt to diminish the intention and capability of regional great powers. |
