BROADCASTING IN THE PROCESS OF SOVEREIGNTY TRANSITION: THE CASE OF HONG KONG

本文以香港為例，探討廣播電視與主權移交的互動關係。隨著九 七倒數的日漸逼近，香港的廣播電視發生了哪些令人矚目的變化？為什麼廣播電視立法的進程趦趄不前？香港能否繼續保持地區廣播中心的桂冠？香港電台的前景如何？為什麼不少業內外人士對香港廣播電視的未來揣測不安？本論文著重討論、探索和分析上述問題。

In Hong Kong's run-up to the Chinese rule, broadcasting in the Britain's last colony has recorded, been affected by, and served as agents to the social changes. This study explores the interplay between sovereignty change and the role of broadcasting in the context of Hong Kong. Specifically, the paper examines what role broadcasting in Hong Kong has played and how that role has been affected by the city's destined reversion to the Chinese rule. Regulatory problems in tems of broadcasting are analyzed and the case of PTHK is singled out for examination so as to shed more light on the impact of sovereignty change on broadcasting. The paper also discusses the future of broadcasting after Hong Kong's sovereignty is handed over to the new Chinese master and probes the reasons behind many people's uncertainty.
