This article describes the nursing experience of a toddler with Kawasaki disease who was admitted to the hospital for high fever and loss of appetite. During the care period, from October 12, 2018 to October 20, 2018, Roy’s adaptation model was used as an assessment tool. A holistic assessment was conducted of the health problems, including oral mucosal disorders, and hyperthermia, and caregiver’s role strain. Many strategies of improvement were adopted. Suitable guidance was provided to the patient to cooperate with oral care. During the nursing process, a diet was provided to the mother for oral cavity ulcer. We taught the mother to provide an appropriate diet and manage fluid intake during the toddler’s fever. Active care with individualized nursing was provided specifically for the case. It is suggested that a shared decision making can be arranged between the medical staff and patient. Through medical team meetings, joint formulation of the nursing plan, providing relevant disease course information and continuous tracking, nurses can enhance the confidence of main caregivers after discharge.
