The main purpose of the study is to understand the triggers of adoption for Bookstart program in Taiwan. The program is initiated in Sheng-bo public library, Taichung in 2003 and is later adopted by most of the public libraries in Taiwan. The researcher employs mainly in-depth interviews with the key forerunners and analyzes the data through the lens of five innovative and adoption factors, relative advantages, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability, from Rogers. It is discovered that the triggers of adoption fall mostly into the lens of relative advantages, compatibility, and trialability, although the context is somehow different from the Rogers’ core arguments. |
