Purpose: Discover the Post Graduate Year (PGY) Program apply factors to promote applying intentions in medical students.
Research Objective and Methods: We used a questionnaire. We collected 105 responses from PGY student applicants in K hospital. The male to female ratio was 3:2. We used exploratory factor analysis and regression analysis for statistical factor analysis.
Results: The ""intention to apply"" to the PGY program was significantly influenced by both the ""nonwork information between the hospital manager and medical team"" and the ""employer reputation."" However, the ""nonwork information"" and ""employer reputation"" are not included in the application information of the hospital that students are applying to. Therefore, information transmitted through word-of-mouth considerably affects a student’s intention to apply.
Conclusions: Our findings provide a novel research direction with regard to promoting interest among medical students in applying to a PGY program. Specifically, word-of-mouth information on hospital management is considerably influences a student’s intention to apply to a PGY program.
