According to a scientific reports in 2014: Injecting old mice with the plasma portion of blood from young mice seemed to improve the elderly rodents’ memory and ability to learn. A US company has started the first clinical trial to test the antiaging benefits of young blood in relatively healthy people. However, participants need to pay 8,000 US dollars to join the plans. In Taiwan, according to Medical Care Act, the plan for human research by a medical care institution shall be first reviewed and approved jointly by a board consisting of medical technologists, legal experts and impartial citizens or representatives of civil groups; people of either gender shall constitute no less than one third of the board. Members of the review board shall abide by the principle of recusal due to conflicts of interest.
