http://www.gouthyperuricemia.comObjective: Here we investigate the association of secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1; rs1126616) with diabetes mellitus (DM), hyperuricemia (HUA), and diabetes mellitus complicated hyperuricemia in Chinese males.
Methods: This study enrolled 300 male HUA patients, 285 male DM patients, 198 male patients with HUA complicated DM and 550 healthy controls from the Department of Endocrinology, gout clinic and medical examination center in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. SPP1, rs1126616 was genotyped using TaqMan-minor groove binder (MGB) Duplex real-time PCR.
Results: The frequencies of CC, CT and TT genotypes in the controls were 6.00%, 38.55% and 55.45%, respectively, 6.32%, 38.25% and 55.43% in DM group, 7.67%, 41.33% and 51.00% in HUA group, and 7.58%, 39.90% and 52.53% in DM complicated HUA group. The genotype and allele frequencies of SPP1, rs1126616 were not significantly different among these groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion: SPP1, rs1126616 is not associated with HUA and DM in Chinese males.
