對一位創作者而言，生命歷程中因具有非一般敏銳度而能觸及更深沉、細膩的形色事物本質問題。因此；當其振臂高呼或沉潛以待時，總是不免感到站在高處的孤寡與冷冽。無論被迫身陷或樂在其中；這孤獨氛圍似乎已儼然成為藝術創作者的隱形場域。
並非遺世孤立的蔣勳亦曾多次撰文敘說，更以情慾孤獨、語言孤獨、革命孤獨、暴力孤獨、思維孤獨和倫理孤獨六種範疇表述「孤獨」，超越了字義的詮釋、常理的認知，引領觀看你我鮮少被碰觸的心內秘境，他說：「在孤獨中有一種很飽滿的東西存在」。
這或許是之所以美術史上眾多藝術家能窮其一生、不畏世俗，追求心靈完滿的緣故。
