Flipped classroom or flipped teaching has become a popular current issue in teaching strategy. This paper provides a quick introduction to the history, value and its implementation, brief introduction of the seven (things) points one should know about flipped classroom by EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative in 2012, as well as four guiding principles to flipped teaching by eSchoolNews. The reason the flipped teaching is rapidly becoming popular and being practiced is that population of digital teaching, especially the emergence of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), has increased as a powerful and huge influence on education and digital learning. More and more schoolteachers are interested in implementing a flipped classroom. Results of the survey of prior and ongoing research of the flipped classroom show that very little study investigating student learning outcomes though there are positive teaching effects. The conclusion offers suggestions for the government in charge of educational affairs to pay attention to the implementation and development of flipped teaching for education in all levels. Suggestions are also presented for schoolteachers to cooperate with professionals to explore the best ways of using flipped teaching, and evaluate its implementation effect seriously. |
