http://www.gouthyperuricemia.com Objective: Gout is a common systemic metabolic disease characterized by deposition of monosodium urate monohydrate crystals with acute inflammation of the involved joint and hyperuricemia. Variants in the uric acid metabolism and inflammatory responsive associated genes may be associated with gout. Methods: 480 male patients with gout and 480 male controls were included in this study. Genotyping was performed by a custom Illumina GoldenGate Genotyping assay. An association analysis was carried out using the χ2 test. Results: 26 SNPs in 24 genes were classified into 4 clusters and genotyped in 960 Chinese Han males. The genotype and allele frequency of study subjects were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. However, the 26 SNPs showed no association with the gout patients and controls (p> 0.05). Conclusion: Our results showed no evidence of association between 26 SNPs in 24 uric acid metabolism and inflammatory response associated genes with gout in a Chinese Han male population.
