Nangang, the most eastern district of Taipei City, used to be called “The Black Town” was composed of factories and railways. Nowadays, great investments from the government comes into Nangang such as the software park, train station BOT buildings, exhibition centers, the pop music center, biotechnology research park, etc. These great investment are going to make Nangang great again soon. In order to handle the fast transformation of Nangang, the city government launch a plan named “Taipei East Gateway Explanatory Plan” (TEGE Plan). The plan redefines the transfer strategy. It makes the public transport have the priority. Moreover, this plan is developing not only based on the existed railway transport system, but also arranging transfer stations, the stereoscopic walking connective system, the public bike service in groups. Through the Taipei Neighborhood Traffic Environment Improvement programme, the transfer and walkable links between nodes of public transport stations, communities, new developing areas, parks, and plazas will also be reviewed to make sure the friendly, seamless and door-to-door transport service can be provided in good use. |
