This paper is a continuation of Wang's (2011) study. It attempts to address some questions relating to the effect of context on the interpretation of noun-stop form sentence. The analysis included the cohesion between thematic sentence and the subsequent contest, as well as the characteristics of indicative sentence. The results are shown as below: a. The cohesion between thematic sentence and the subsequent context can be broadly divided into 4 types: (1) reiteration, (2) paraphrase, (3) reference, and (4) ellipsis. b. Reiteration and reference refer to as explicit, while ellipsis refers to as implicit, and paraphrase refers to as in-between. c. In ellipsis, the omitted parts contain various components of sentence, such as word, phrase, and dependent clause, etc. d. The characteristics of noun-stop form sentence are correlated with verbal, non-verbal, and both context. e. The usage of indicative sentence resembles that of omissive noun-stop form sentence. |
