Sight translation (ST) is a kind of translation that changing written source language into spoken target language. The focus of ST is on how to shift written language into spoken language.This study first identified the features of written and spoken language through observations of natural written texts and spoken discourses. Next, to identify the factors involved during the process of ST, this study conducted ST experiments involving a professional interpreter and an interpretation learner majoring foreign language as subjects. The factors include rank raising (Lin 2009b) of language unit, explicitation of background information and implications, cohesion, coherence, attention to the listener, and monitoring mechanism. |
