This study examines the effect of Internet pornography on college students from a third-person effect perspective. A survey of 867 college students in Shanghai shows that both male and female respondents believe Internet pornography has a greater negative influence on others than on themselves. Females are more likely than males to perceive that Internet pornography has a greater negative effect on themselves and others. Finally, both perceived effect on self and perceived effect on others were significantly and positively related to support for restrictions of Internet pornography. |
