The Chan Master Sixin Wuxin (1043-1115), a disciple of Linji Zong Huanglong School Chan Master Huitang Zuxin, is a well-known Chan master of the Northern Song Dynasty. In this paper, through the collation of the literature, we first describe the background of Sixin Wuxin's era, introduce his life and the reason for enlightenment, and clarify the ambiguity of the relevant deeds in an attempt to obtain more reliable results. Then, we discuss the characteristics of his Chan guide style. In short, Sixin Wuxin is very simple and just, and he focuses on practice when teaching his disciples. He was straightforward, often using scolding to examine disciples' morality and practice. Although Sixin Wuxin is a Chan master of Linji Zong, he also advises the disciples to recite - Amitābha's name due to it being conducive to practicing meditation and the different talents of disciples. |
