The purpose of this study was to compare the attitudes and considerations of marine leisure education in junior high schools between teachers and parents of New Taipei City. The method adopted in this study was a survey. 303 junior high school teachers and 437 parents were selected as the subjects. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. The attitude scores of teachers and parents who have been involved in or led marine leisure activities were higher than for those who had not been involved previously. 2. In terms of attitudes toward the implementation of marine leisure education, significant differences were found among the factors of teachers' gender, position, and teaching field. 3. In terms of attitudes toward the implementation of marine leisure education, there were significant differences among the factors of parents' age, occupation, and numbers of children. 4. Teachers' attitude scores and considerations are significantly higher than parents' are but they are less willing to take students to participate than parents are. 5. Both teachers and parents positively support marine leisure education, but are less willing to lead their students to participate in marine leisure education. 6. Teachers and parents consider that the three most important considerations are security, swimming ability, and cost. The results of this study can be referenced by those who are interested in marine education and teachers in junior high schools. |
