Overactive bladder is a clinically common disease that covers a wide range of conditions, including urge urinary incontinence, mixed urinary incontinence, and part of stress urinary incontinence. It is defined as urgency, combined with frequent urination and nocturia, and some may be associated with urge incontinence. The assessment include history taking, physical examination and urine examination, use of the overactive bladder questionnaire and voiding diary. It can be used to assess changes in symptoms and outcomes before and after treatment. The treatment consists of patient education, behavioral treatment, and pharmacologic management. Drug therapy is usually used as a parasympathetic drug to reduce bladder detrusor contraction, but may be accompanied by side effects such as dry mouth and constipation. This case report is a 24-year-old overactive bladder patient who had been diagnosed of overactive bladder for nine months and received drugs, but the effect was not satisfactory. Therefore, he searched traditional Chinese medicine for help. After receiving acupuncture, the symptoms were quickly and well controlled. Because less acupuncture for overactive bladder was published in the journal, this case was arranged as a clinical reference for acupuncture of overactive bladder. |
