Background: There is no guideline for the production of medical technology e-learning materials. Consequently, these materials vary in quality. This study creates a quality assessment form for clinical training of e-learning materials, and evaluates its impact on learning perception. Material and Methods: The Quality Assessment for Medical Technology E-learning materials Form was constructed in three dimensions comprising 26 items with good validity and reliability. To evaluate the impact of this form on learning perception, an experimental e-learning material was produced and validated by the assessment form. After using experimental and control materials in a randomized pattern, a survey was conducted among 82 participants to obtain data regarding their learning perceptions using a five-point Likert scale. Results: In all survey items, the perceptions of the participants for experimental e-learning material are significantly better than those of control one (p < .05 for all items). Average values of the learning perception for the experimental and control e-learning material are 4.40 ± 0.47 and 3.65 ± 0.61, respectively (p <.001). Moreover, 94% of participants approved the high quality of the experimental e-learning material by affirming their “Increased interest in learning,” “Willingness to use again,” and “Willingness to recommend to other people.” Conclusions: Important features of good e-learning materials can be introduced by meeting the criteria listed in the assessment form devised in this study. Using this new quality assessment form in producing e-learning material significantly contributes to positive learning experiences. CONDENSED ABSTRACT: There are no guidelines to ensure the consistency or quality of medical technology e-learning materials. This study develops and evaluates an assessment form to ensure and improve the quality of e-learning materials in clinical training. Testing the Quality Assessment Form for Medical Technology E-learning materials by means of a survey, this study found that the materials developed according to this form scored significantly higher in all survey items. As such, this study advances that the new quality assessment form significantly contributes to positive learning perceptions. |
