Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder. In recent years, it has been reported in the literature that paraquat is associated with PD production. The rat adrenal medullary pheochromocytoma cell line (PC12 cell line) is a commonly used model for studies of neural differentiation and cell death. PC12 cells can be used a study model of neuroprotective effect. Crataegus pinnatifida has many physiological activities such as anti-cancer, anti-oxidant and antiinflammatory effects. This study is mainly to investigate the C. pinnatifida component inhibit paraquat-induced PC12 cell death effect. It is found the 95% ethanolic extract of C. pinnatifida and the crataegolic acid have the best ability to inhibit the toxicity of paraquat. They can protect PC12 cells. In the future, we will research the protective mechanism of action of PC12 cells of the C. pinnatifida component. It is expected that the C. pinnatifida component can become a neuroprotective agent. |
