In the academic field of the TCM acupuncture and moxibustion, the treatment of Ah Shi acupoints is widely applied, and has the simplest dialectal way. It is rumored that such acupoints were discovered because the doctors' observation of the pain area of the patients, found that the affected part of the skin surface had a different performance under normal conditions, tried to press it and asked the patients if it is the pain in the place. And the patients gave a painful tone and said, ''Ah, ah, shi, shi...'' (shi = yes) And the acupoints were discovered in a situation like this. The naming of Ah Shi acupoints is from the medical scientist in the Tang Dynasty Sun Simiao. He named it Ah Shi acupoints in his book, ''Beiji Qianjin Yaofang'' (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Pieces of Gold for Emergencies). However, in earlier years, there had been a reason for such treatments. This article will be based on the similarities and differences between Ah Shi acupoints and Tian Ying acupoints, as well as the comparison and analysis of the therapies for Myofascial trigger point in modern Western medicine. |
