According to the Post-Graduate Year (PGY) training program conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, “360-degree Evaluation” is one of the necessary assessment tools for PGY trainees. Many groups of assessors, including doctors (teachers), advisor, peers, nurses or other medical staff, and patients or their families, contribute to the assessment of PGY trainees. The benefit of 360-degree Evaluation is to identify the weak points of PGY performance by comprehensive observation, and to allow PGY trainees to make progress by themselves. However, there is no established flowchart for evaluation, and no management system to review the outcome of feedback. Here, the experience from one of the tertiary teaching hospitals in northern Taiwan is presented. We created a standardized flowchart system and a holistic evaluation system to survey the outcome of assessment in that teaching hospital. In this system, advisors and administrators would be involved to guide PGY trainees if necessary. |
