Literary vs. Colloquial Readings of the Fujian Dialect in Northeast Jiangxi Province

贛東北閩南語分佈於江西省上饒市所轄的8個縣市區。贛東北閩南語的語言系統與本土閩南語相比較有趨簡演變，其中文讀比白讀更為簡化，且有新派與老派的差異，新文讀比舊文讀在向著共同語趨同的演變中更進了一步。贛東北閩南語中新文讀的形成與方言島區域學校教學語言的演變有關。

In northeast Jiangxi province, the Fujian dialect is found in eight counties of Shàngráo City, and shows some differences from other Fujian varieties. The direction of development is towards simplification. The literary pronunciation is simpler than the colloquial. There are differences between an old literary pronunciation and a new literary pronunciation: the latter is closer to standard Mandarin. This development has been brought about in these districts with the change in language of instruction.
