This paper proposed a shape optimization method for the floating pendulum wave energy converter (WEC) based on the design of experiment. The maximum power output is achieved by optimizing the geometry of the floating pendulum so that it has the maximum swing angle under the same wave conditions. In this paper, the hydrodynamic calculation software AQWA is used to model the main structure of the floating pendulum WEC. The correctness of the fluid model is verified by the comparison of simu-lation and experimental results. Then the hydrodynamic characteristics in the frequency domain are calculated by using the verified floating pendulum simulation model. Finally, the optimized shape of the WEC is determined by running five simulations in the time domain and using the design of experiment method. |
