The purpose of short-term study abroad programme is to achieve at higher learning effect and the general design and practical courses of this programme are aiming at its specificity. In order to inspire interest of students and thereby improve their learning achievements, the materials have to be not only more concise but be more thematic and practical. The task method grows from the communicative method and comprises some principles of it. The task method increases learning effect by means of using the target language to accomplish meaningful activities. This method refuses to go into too many details concerning language teaching and reduces its reference to rules of syntax as well. It also places less emphasis on correcting errors. It values the characteristics of everyday life's real context. This research takes short-term study abroad as its topic and the programme of the Koyamadai Educational Foundation as the case. The design of programme for this case is based on the concepts of immersion programme and task method. It is aimed at revealing the process of teaching Chinese and its effect related to short-term study abroad, some reflections are also presented. The results show that the research subject, due to the advantageous similarity between Chinese characters used in Japanese and original Chinese Characters, can learn more smoothly. However, due to the same reason, some biases are apparent too. For all that, these subjects learn the language and experience the school life of Taiwan at the same time through all task-activities. |
