This paper described the care experience of a female victim who had been suffering from long-term marital violence and came into the emergency room with physical and psychological trauma. Data is collected through observation, interviews, listening, and medical records review during the care period from 10:00 to 18:00 on May 16, 2012. Furthermore, a holistic assessment is performed using Gordon 11 healthy functions evaluation to confirm the main nursing problems, including pain, the lack of knowledge, disappointment and fear. Listening to music and relaxation has helped patient to divert attention from pain. The head injury and wound care instruction is given orally to enhance patient's self-care skills; moreover, an instruction on how to change dressing is also given to enhance the preparedness of self-care knowledge. By introducing the movie "Precious", the use of social resources and by demonstrating the resilience of plants, patient once again experiences the pricelessness and potential in life. In addition, we provide a safe and private environment, as well as the knowledge of domestic violence and self-protection skills. We also encourage patient to listen to music to ease fear and anxiety. |
