A systematic investigation of a good relationship to eventual counseling effectiveness was necessary in order to improve the counselor training program. This research was, therefore, designed to study these questions: (1) What are the variables underlying the establishment of rapport between a counselor and a client? (2) What is the correlation between rapport and counseling effectiveness? Six counselors from the Wisconsin University Counseling Center and their 16 vedio-taped cases were the subjects in this study. Rapport Rating Scale (RRS) and Counseling Service Assessment Blanket (CSAB) were the instrument utilized to measure the correlations between Counseling Rapport and Counseling Effectiveness. The research findings suggested that (1) There are describable variables which contribute to the quality of counseling rapport according to the measurement of RRS. (2) There was a significant relationship between counseling rapport and the resolution of interpersonal and environmental problems in counseling effectiveness. |
