The investigation of parental attitudes in relation to young children's creativity was based on a sample of 18 children and their parents. Creativity measurements included three modified tests-Picture Construction Test, Uses Test and Freedom Test which were developed according to pre-school level. The instrument of parental attitude measurement was PARI. The assessment of creastivity tests shows that there is no unidimensional characteristics among the three tests. This indicates that to use a combined total creativity score is not appropriate. Sex differences on creativity tests reflect only some significant correlation results, but not in mean differences. The assessment of parental attitude measurement instrument indicates that PARI is a worthy instrument, Yet it is sensitive to various factors. Parental attitudes in relation to Young children's creativity reflect also some significant results, such as mother's authoritarian score is related to child's picture-fluency, father's equalitarian score is' related to child's uses-originality, etc. When sex difference is considered~ mother and father have different effects on their child because of sex differences. Since the present sample is small, for application to a larger population seems not suitable, but nevertheless, it provides many important suggestions for the future intensive studies. |
