INFORMATION TRANSMISSION AND RECOGNITION THRESHOLD

以認識閾為知覺之指標，實驗一研究刺激消息量與反應時間之直線關係是否僅為刺激消息量與知覺之間的關係。反應時間雖然隨著刺激消息量之增加而增加，但有受既有刺激反應關係限制的現象。實驗二研究此種限制是否直接反映反應歷程之特性。兩個實驗的結果顯示上述兩種有關刺激與反應的現象僅係反應刺激與知覺之間之關係。

Using recognition threshold as an index of perception, Exp. 1 investigates whether the linear relationship between the amount of information and reaction time is merely a relationship between the amount of information and perception. It is also well known that the relationship between the amount of information and reaction time is restricted by the pre-existing stimulus-response relation. Exp. 11 investigates whether this restriction reflects only the nature of perceptual process. It was found that ail phenomena under study reflect merely the relationship between stimulus and perception.
