Conditioning of Alpha Rhythm Blocking with Schizophrenics

For studing the conditionability of the alpha rhythm blocking or schizophrenics, 13 out of 20 schizophrenic patients were compared with 17 out of 25 normal students in the conditoining alpha wave to a tone stimulus of 2 seconds duration. By the combination of the anticipatory and the conditioned responses in the conditioning and the test trials respectively, we can not find any difference between the two groups of schizophrenics and normals. Two schizophrenics and seven normals have three consecutive conditioned responses without statical support for differenciating them. This negative experimental fact may be reduced to the unstability of alpha wave. The measurring ration method as well as the above mentioned subjective observation method is not adequate to study conditoning of EEG.
