Volvariella volvacea (Bull. ex Fr.) Sing. is a tropical a subtropical saprophytic fungus, they grown under laboratory conditions of controlled temperatures and humidities developed in this laboratory during the last two years can yield fruit bodies throughout the year Description is given in this report for the effect of light intensity on fructification of this mushroom It accounts for the source of light, intensity of light, and for the effect of light intensity on the flush of production The maximum fructification was observed at both 50 fc intensities of day light lamp, 24-hours illumination and 12-hours illumination. They are significatly better than either 100 fc treatment or dark treatment (control). However, there was no significant difference between the latter two. The data also indicate the light intensity did not influence on the rhythmic cycles of mushroom production, however, light is important factor for initiation of fruit bodies. |
