Effect of fertilizers on the yield and oil content of citronella grass was conducted at 4 locations in Miaoli, from 1969 to 1965, The quality of the oil which obtained in 1964 and 1955 was also analyzed. The results indicated that the grass yield in the third year was significatly increased by the application of nitrogen fertilizer. However, when phosphorus and potassium was applied with nitrogen, a notable increasing of the grass yield was occured in a large instances in all of the three-year experiment. Generally, percentage of oil content seems to be decreased with increased amount of nitrogen. Conversely, it was slightly promoted by phosphorus and potassium. The citronella oil content was somewhat higher under the application of nitrogen fertilizer, but a reverse effect was also appeared in some instances in the third year experiment. No effect of fertilizer application on the total alcohol of the oil was observed. |
